What to do about an unfamiliar card transaction

A transaction label can look different from a merchant’s public name, but unfamiliar activity deserves a prompt, careful review through official channels.

Verify the details first

Check the date, amount, currency and merchant descriptor against recent purchases, subscription renewals and household payments. Do this inside the official account or card interface, not through a link in an email or message.

Act quickly when it is not yours

Use available card controls, such as freezing the card if appropriate, then contact support through the official route. Keep a record of the transaction details and any order confirmations that help establish what happened.

Avoid a second scam

  • Do not call an unverified number displayed in a suspicious message.
  • Do not share recovery phrases, private keys or full credentials to “reverse” a payment.
  • Do not send a new transfer to an account promising a refund.
  • Open official support routes yourself.

An unfamiliar transaction can have an innocent explanation, but it is better to review it promptly than to ignore it.

Use the official card flow for support

Do not rely on a direct message or an unverified support account.
